SploshBox Reverb / Sustainer (AUv3) is an audio effect plugin designed for flexible integration within digital audio workstations, either as a standalone application or as an AU-compatible plugin in hosts like Logic or GarageBand.

Overview

SploshBox offers a vintage-inspired digital reverb with a unique capability to "freeze" the reverb tail, enabling infinite sustain effects. While reminiscent of early hardware digital reverbs—known for their somewhat grainy and "unnatural" tonal quality—SploshBox achieves this aesthetic efficiently, with a low CPU footprint. Notably, it delivers up to one minute of decay time, or infinite sustain when the freeze mode is activated.

Parameters

• Active - Enables or disables the effect. When deactivated, the reverb tail continues to decay naturally, akin to the "trails" mode found in many effects pedals.
• Delay - Sets a pre-delay before the reverb process begins, allowing for creative preservation of initial transients or attack characteristics in the sound.
• Decay - Defines the reverb decay time from a 0dB impulse to -60dB. The actual perceived decay may vary depending on input signal levels.
• Spread - Adjusts the stereo width of the reverb from mono to expansive stereo effects.
• LPF - Applies a lowpass filter cutoff to soften or warm the reverb tail; lower settings produce a more subdued effect.
• Mix - Balances dry and wet signals, controlling the prominence of the reverb within the output.
• Freeze - Activates a mode that sustains the current reverb tail indefinitely by freezing the buffer. The freeze state allows for creative soundscapes and drones when mapped to MIDI controls. It is important to note that during freeze, no dry input is processed into the reverb, effectively pausing any new reverb buildup. Additionally, frozen buffers are not stored across sessions; upon session reload, freeze mode will have no effect until reactivated.
